Getting started

Install, activate, and what each add-in does. For the full workflow with screenshots and videos, see the user guide.

First run

  1. Install with Revit and Navisworks closed.
  2. Run any GBIM command. The Licence window opens: choose Start 30-day trial, or paste your key and choose Activate.
  3. Every GBIM add-in on this computer now shares that licence.

Licence

  • Open it: Revit ▸ GBIM tab ▸ GBIM ▸ Licence (the last panel); Navisworks ▸ GBIM tab ▸ GBIM ▸ Licence.
  • Your key and downloads: in your customer account, and in the email you got at checkout.
  • Move to another computer: Release this computer, then activate the same key on the new one.
  • Offline: works 14 days after the last check. If it asks for a check, connect and choose Check now.
  • Where it is stored: %APPDATA%\GBIM\licence. Copying it to another computer does not move the licence.
Nothing in GBIM saves your model or overwrites your files. Reports and rule workbooks get a new name or a new version.

GBIM QA

Where: Revit: GBIM tab.

Check a Revit model against its BIM standard in minutes, fix names safely, and clean up without breaking anything.

  • Health Check: 23 checks (warnings, in-place families, imports, unpinned links, file size…) with a score and the change since the last run.
  • Warnings, Views and Sheets, Links and Coordinates in the same window, with Select and Isolate.
  • Excel export: scorecard, every element, and history by run.
  • Naming: your rules from an Excel workbook (file, worksets, types, families, tags, materials), with a rename preview that only applies safe fixes.
  • Parameters: required parameters by LOD, with empty, invalid and missing values listed.
  • Colour by Parameter: a temporary coloured copy of the view, with a legend you can select from.
  • Safe Cleanup: unused filters, templates, patterns, styles and materials; a dry run proves nothing placed is deleted.
  • A Rules editor inside Revit and a blank template for Excel, with drop-downs and a live “test a name” box.
  • Ships with a generic Sample project rule set to start from.

Clash Report

Where: Navisworks: GBIM tab.

Turn every Navisworks clash test into a ready-to-send Clash Response Sheet, one file per test and one folder per party.

  • One .xlsx per clash test, grouped in a folder per responsible party (your labels, matched from test and model names).
  • Title, KPIs, status drop-downs, comment columns, filter and frozen header, ready for the subcontractor.
  • Distance column: how deep each clash is, in millimetres, so you can sort the worst first.
  • Clash groups as one row; choose which statuses to list.
  • A picture per clash with only the two clashing elements shown, taken from the clash viewpoint.
  • Runs on thousands of tests: the list, filter and ticks stay fast.

Clash Manager

Where: Navisworks: GBIM tab.

See where an element clashes in all tests, approve it in one step, read statuses back from returned sheets, and find the busiest zones on a map.

  • Pick elements; get every clash in every test, with the other element, its ID and model.
  • Set the ticked clashes to any status; Approved also stamps Approved By and time.
  • Read returned Clash Response Sheets or a simple status table, several files at once.
  • Clashes are matched by test, clash name and element IDs; only real changes are ticked; problems are listed, not guessed.
  • Every clash placed in a zone (level and grid bay); each zone is one bulb, red, yellow or green by its clash count, with no thresholds to set.
  • Click a zone to list its clashes: the model and the other zones dim, and its clashes show as small bulbs; click one to go to it, then save the chosen clashes as viewpoints.
  • The map is saved, so you can open it again later and carry on where you left off.

Clash Sync

Where: Navisworks: GBIM tab, and Revit: GBIM tab.

A live link from Navisworks to Revit: the clash you click is shown in Revit at once, boxed and coloured.

  • Switch it on in Navisworks; open the Clash Sync window in Revit.
  • Elements are found by Revit ID in the host model and its links; the section box and colours follow each click.
  • Each update is one Undo step.

Clash Import

Where: Navisworks: GBIM tab, and Revit: GBIM tab.

Export clash tests from Navisworks and work through them in a docked Revit browser.

  • Filter by test, status or text; select and zoom; create views; write the clash text to a parameter you choose.
  • Map Navisworks source models to the host model and its links once; it is remembered.
  • On the Revit GBIM tab: click points on elements in any view and a red GBIM Flag is placed at each.
  • The flags travel with the model, so the same spot is easy to find again in Navisworks.

GUID Audit

Where: Revit: GBIM tab.

Find shared parameters with the wrong GUID, name or data type before they break schedules, tags and exports.

  • Every parameter definition in the model and its families against your shared parameter file.
  • Optional requirements list (any Excel layout with a parameter-name column) for data type, binding, categories and mandatory parameters.
  • Approved additions file for project parameters that are allowed outside the SP file.
  • A timestamped Excel register ranked Critical, High, Medium, Low, with the element and family behind each finding.

GBIM Tools

Where: Revit: GBIM tab.

Two small tools you will use every day.

  • Click elements in linked models; IDs are copied, with a history you can copy again.
  • Draw a rectangle on a plan; get a 3D view with a section box from that level to the level above.

GBIM Export

Where: Revit: GBIM tab.

Pick sheets and 3D views once and export them all, named the way your project needs, without overwriting anything.

  • PDF as one file per sheet or one combined file, in colour, grey or black, with crop boundaries, scope boxes, reference planes and unreferenced tags hidden.
  • DWG with your DWG export setup, with views merged or as external references.
  • IFC (IFC2x3, IFC4 Reference View or IFC4 Design Transfer View), visible elements only, links if you want them.
  • NWC with shared coordinates and element properties, links, rooms and levels as you choose.
  • File names from a pattern of sheet, view and model fields; an existing file is never replaced.
  • A log of every file, and your choices are remembered for next time.
